Daisy Perfume by Marc Jacobs 1.7 oz Eau De Toilette Spray for Women. Launched In 2007 And Developed By Perfumer Alberto Morillas, It Includes Notes Of Wild Strawberry, Violet Leaves, Red Grapefruit, Gardenia, Violet, Jasmine, Musk, Vanilla And White Woods.

Daisy fragrance is meant to be “happy and youthful”, and “more accessible than the signature range” and “sophisticated but not too serious”. In other words, it’s meant to bring younger consumers into the Marc Jacobs fold. I’m way past the target age range (said to be 18-24), but I was taken by that bottle right off the bat. It is way cute. I was worried that it would be way less cute when I saw the plastic daisies in person, but nope, it is maybe even more way cute in real life.

Daisy the fragrance is a pretty good match with Daisy the bottle. It is young and light and fresh, feminine but not sexy, easy to wear, and massively pleasant. It starts with fruit (wild strawberry, red grapefruit), neither heavy nor overly sweet, tempered by a touch of greenery (violet leaves). The floral notes in the heart (gardenia, violet, jasmine) are well-blended and sheer, and while daisies themselves have no scent, Marc Jacobs Daisy does a pretty good job of evoking a sunny, breezy meadow of random flowers. The base (musk, vanilla and white woods) is pale and clean and middling warm, and only lightly vanillic.

As you can probably already guess from the quotes in the first paragraph, Daisy isn’t likely to stun anybody with its originality, but it works well for what it is: an entry level scent for a mainstream brand that isn’t known for its challenging fragrances anyway. For such a thing, it is darned likeable. Despite the attractions of the bottle, I don’t like it well enough to actually buy it, but I’d guess many women will.

Flower Oriental starts quite similar to the original Flower scent: a soft, sweet, powdery floral. As it settles, the powder calms, and it starts to take on dark woody undertones that temper the sweetness nicely. It smells like agarwood (oudh), but a subdued agarwood, completely stripped of its characteristic medicinal topnote. The wood slowly warms into a dry, smoky-peppery incense which obscures the floral top notes, leaving only indistinct traces. It is mildly spicy, with a dash of vanilla and a clean skin musk in the base.

It is a wonderful comfort scent for fall, very squishy-soft, and much lighter and closer to the skin than you might imagine it would be based on the notes. It has just enough powder to lend a velvety finish, but not so much that you feel that you have dusted it on, and there is just enough vanilla to balance the dryness of the wood.

Personally this is a beautiful and feminine fragrance that lasts for hours, enveloping you in a fragrant veil of flowers. It isn’t ‘heady’, but I think it possibly could be if someone sprayed too much on themselves. I find that a couple of squirts on the neck is probably sufficient for a subtle yet lasting scent, which is great because the bottle then lasts for ages, meaning fab value for money! I always get asked what I’m wearing when I have this on, and it seems very popular with a lot of people.
